The new and old versions of the Bernzomatic TS8000 are pretty much identical in size and shape. There are a few cosmetic differences; the old one is silver, the new one is black, and the Bernzomatic logo is a little different. And the graphic designers have struck again – where my old unit says “OFF” and “ON,” the new version has a little pictogram of a padlock locked and unlocked.
The cast aluminum body and sturdy tip give the torch the look and feel of a quality tool. It threads easily onto the gas canister, and you’re ready to bring the heat. The offerings are subject to errors, omissions, changes, including price, or withdrawal without notice. Haven't had the opportunity to use it for other tasks unfortunately so can't comment on those aspects (esp. bear fighting). As for as additional propane tanks, costco sells a dual combo pak at the best price I could find (unless ofcos its on clearance at HD &or Lowes). I also love that even if I tip it upside down, it works perfectly.
Max Performance Torch Kit
Since Bernzomatic will be featuring the TS8000 torch kit as a Home Depot Black Friday deal, they've asked us to take a closer look at their latest auto-start ignition, adjustable flame hand Torch. The holiday promotions will include a savings of up to $10 on the TS8000KC Torch and cylinder kit and up to $6.59 on a 2-pack of MAP-Pro fuel cylinders at Home Depot. When not in use, you can turn it to the off position and you don’t have to worry about it accidentally lighting. When you want to light the torch, turn it to the on position and push in.
Normally we don’t do sponsored posts, but this is a product I love and I have been using for years. We can tell you about the Black Friday special, and it would be a perfect time do a review on one of their flagship products. So let’s jump into the Bernzomatic TS8000 Review.

Every time I turn it on and fire it up, it lights in one try. I don't think that koreanbeefcake is using this for cooking. Most likely since he mentioned needing it for his searzall, he is using it to sear his meat after sous vide cooking. I've recently picked up a Bernzomatic TS4000 and use this along with a normal propane tank to sear the edges of my meat. Much easier than trying to hold the edge of a steak vertically over the barbeque or in a cast iron pot. The first thing you notice when you take the Bernzomatic TS8000 out of its packaging is how substantial it feels.
I’m pretty sharp, though, and I was able to figure it out without using the instruction sheet. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.

And the torch will stay lit without having to hold any button down. You may be asking yourself what’s the difference between the TS4000 and the TS8000? The main difference is the TS4000 is either on or off. With the TS8000, you can control the flame which makes it more versatile. Personally, I would buy the TS8000 because of being able to control the flame size.
Read on for more info, and our hands-on look at the torch. The Bernzomatic TS8000 is designed for a portable and easy solution for job site projects including soldering large diameter copper pipes, brazing, heat treating and light welding. The TS8000 is designed to be simple to use, durable enough to take the abuse of a job site and very reliable. In 1876, Otto Bernz created a company to sell plumbers’ tools, furnaces, and torches. Over time, Bernzomatic has grown to a much larger company, but they haven’t changed their goal – quality products. Bernzomatic recently contacted us and wanted us to sponsor a post about their Black Friday special.

On a farm, there is no shortage of “stuff” to repair, including our old Kubota tractor, some metal outdoor furniture, and some sketchy plumbing in the house. The Bernzomatic TS8000 Max Heat Torch has plenty of oomph to tackle most of the jobs I can handle, and I look forward to regaining my brazing skills that haven’t been called upon in a very long time. Asking price is based on purchase including eternally bought off leasehold. It's great tool for lighting campfires and heating a brake drum so you can check your brakes. Some user claimed it would even be good to fight a bear with. Sure beats the heck out of tracking down a striker every time I want to fire it up.
I moved into my house in 2003 and needed to remove old galvanized pipes and install copper pipes, so that is why I first bought it. Since then, I have used it for so much more, such as lighting my fireplace, my fire pit and more. In fact, I keep it at arms reach on my work bench because I reach for it more than I ever thought. Beginning this review expressing my satisfaction with my TS4000, I can see no reason to expect anything less from the TS8000, with years ahead to discover even more uses. We bought an old farm a few years ago, and we’ve been renovating pretty much everything.
Products that last the test of time tend to be the ones you see everywhere. If you are looking for a reliable torch, now is the time to pick it up and save a couple of bucks. What I really love about this torch is how reliable it is. Most of the time it’s out in the garage, which in winter time gets extremely cold.
The torch fires up every time no matter if it’s cold or hot outside. To turn off the torch, just let go of the yellow button and the torch will extinguish. Usually Black Friday is only Friday, but this special runs from today until November 29. If you don’t have this torch, now is your chance to pick it up for a great price. I am not saying that because they paid us to tell you about the special, it’s just a product I really believe in. Bernzomatic is offering two deals during this time frame.
If you have a large project ahead, they also have a deal to save up to $6.59 on the purchase of a 2-pack of Bernzomatic MAP-Pro Cylinders. Occasionally the press of the ignition button fails to start a flame, but with a second try I've never failed to ignite the Torch; this is why I deem it a very reliable flame. There is also an ignition lock that prevents an accidental ignition if bumped. We should note the bundle is included with mapp gas not propane. I can use the mapp gas and I've been waiting for the 8000 for my searzall. I’m not a plumber, but I’ve done a lot of renovations over the years, including some that involved totally replacing the plumbing system, so I’ve soldered a fair amount of copper.
The trigger ignition on my unit stopped working after I accidentally tipped it over when it was attached to the butane. Has anyone else experienced this problem and or know a fix for this issue? It still works when I light it with another flame, it's just annoying. Not as hot as the $49 HD deal, I passed on it then and regretted my decision. New 'mapp' gas doesn't burn much hotter than propane for the increase price, depending on which brand around 4,400 degrees where as old mapp gas was more like 5,400 degrees. Turn the dial to the “unlocked” position, and squeeze the trigger. Pull the trigger, the flame goes out, turn the dial back to the “locked” position, and admire your work.
